It is quite humbling to be the concertmaster of an orchestra I consider to be one of the finest in America. There are certainly more famous orchestras with lengthy pedigrees and impressive reputations, and I’ve played with several. But it is a genuine privilege to regularly work with first-rate musicians of the highest caliber on a day-to-day basis. The commitment and exemplary standards of the MSO musicians and the overall trajectory of the institution stand as a model for this industry now, and it is gratifying to be a part of it. I will miss this role immensely when I step down in August 2020, after 25 seasons. I’ll remain with the orchestra as an Artistic Advisor.
